Dr. Chris Wachira’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. As the first Kenyan winemaker in the United States, her achievements resonate deeply with the essence of sisterhood. Leading The Wachira Group, she oversees three significant verticals that reflect her pioneering spirit and commitment to cultural celebration and socioeconomic justice. Established in 2017, Wachira Wines is the first Kenyan-American winery in the U.S., celebrating Kenyan culture, values, and the dual Kenyan-American experience. KARIBU by Wachira, the first black-owned and woman-owned winery tasting room in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they celebrate people of color, women and small batch makers. SOKO by Wachira, the first black-owned and woman-owned importer, exporter, and distributor of wine, beer, and liquor licensed in California, exemplifies innovation and leadership in the beverage industry.

The Links, Incorporated, is an international organization of influential women of African ancestry. Founded in Philadelphia in 1946, it has grown to become the largest nationwide organization of Black women in the U.S. Membership is by invitation only, ensuring a network of accomplished and dedicated women who are committed to fostering positive societal change. Sisterhood is more than just a bond; it is a powerful force that nurtures growth, resilience, and empowerment.
